2025-2027 President, Beckey Kijak

Beckey Kijak has worked in municipal finance since 2015, when she began her career with the Village of Lakewood. In 2019, she accepted a position with the Village of Johnsburg, where she expanded her expertise and advanced to the role of Treasurer. In 2025, she joined the Village of Antioch as a Senior Accountant and is transitioning into the role of Finance Director.

Beckey's dedication to the profession has driven her growth and advancement over the past decade.Beckey has been a member of the Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association since 2019 and became a Certified Illinois Municipal Treasurer in 2023. She was encouraged to join the organization by her predecessor in Johnsburg and credits IMTA with supporting much of her professional growth through training, networking, and active involvement. In June 2022, Beckey joined the IMTA Board of Directors and shortly thereafter assumed the role of Second Vice President. In 2024, she was sworn in as President of the Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association. During her first term, she established a bylaw and policy review committee to ensure governing documents remained current and aligned with standard regulations, helped oversee the transition to a new association management company, worked to rebuild membership, and led a successful joint conference with the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada.

Her commitment to the association is evident in her leadership and willingness to serve. That commitment was further demonstrated when she agreed to extend her term for an additional year following a career change involving the First Vice President.

President's Message: The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association is a strong organization dedicated to providing its members with the resources needed to become not only effective Treasurers, but also strong leaders and responsible financial stewards. These resources equip treasurers and other municipal finance professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the essential responsibilities of the role, including overseeing audits, levying taxes, preparing budgets, managing investments, and more. Carrying out these responsibilities efficiently and effectively helps preserve taxpayer resources while also providing the fiscal transparency that residents and businesses expect from local government. IMTA also encourages the development of broader leadership skills that help finance professionals identify and advance meaningful projects within their communities.

The members of IMTA work diligently to provide valuable and relevant information to the membership on an ongoing basis. During my term, I will continue building on the association’s success while working to attract new members and expand awareness of all that IMTA has to offer. The depth of knowledge and experience within this organization is unmatched. It is what first drew me to the association after attending my first conference, and I believe that expertise and camaraderie are especially valuable to new treasurers. I will also encourage greater member involvement in committees and leadership opportunities as they arise.

If you are not yet a member of IMTA, I encourage you to consider joining for the benefit of both you and your municipality. If you are already a member but have not yet served on a committee and would like to learn more about how to become involved, please reach out to me or any member of the IMTA Board. Your contributions to IMTA are sincerely appreciated and play an important role in supporting and inspiring future generations of governmental finance leaders.
