Regions
The division of our state into regions was first discussed in 1979 as a means of cutting travel costs of seminar participants. Because of the large area covered by our State, it was believed that meetings on a regional basis would provide a more convenient service to Illinois treasurers. In today's world, having regional meetings can help shorten our travel, but it can also help us specialize our conversations and relationships based on commonalities that may be region-dependent. The state is divided into three regions: Northern, Central, and Southern. If you are interested in planning a regional event, please contact your association managers (see info at bottom of page).
Regional Meetings Any member can host a regional meeting, but it must be approved by the regional committee chair. Regional meetings are typically five hours long and feature a full agenda of different speakers and topics. For a complete list of criteria see these guidelines for planning a regional meeting.
Roundtable Discussion Similar to a meetings but on a smaller scale, without an outside speaker. Criteria for a roundtable include:
- A pre-determined agenda prepared and distributed to communities within your area or region.
- The meeting will last a minimum of two hours, including a meal/refreshment.
- There must be a designated host to lead the discussion.
- A minimum number of six participants, including the host.
